Hi!
Dr. Cam here. All month long in the office we have been playing Pride Bingo supporting local LGBT owned businesses. I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for participating so far. I was pretty nervous to do something like this during Pride month but it has been so much fun.
And in case you didn’t know…..I’m gay.
I came out to my wife in 2018 after more than a decade of marriage. We tried to navigate staying married but ultimately it wasn’t enough and we divorced in May 2019. And that was when my world turned upside down. At the time I had only been in business for two years. I was terrified imagining what would happen once my current patients and the public found out and knew the truth about me. But I was very wrong. As my journey began and I gained more confidence in who I am I was blown away at the outcomes.
I learned that for the most part, people want people to be happy. And that most people don’t care about who you love, or who you are attracted to. They care that you are the best version of you when it comes to them doing business with you.
I can’t let this Pride month end before I express my sincerest thanks to my patients and my community who have supported me – whether in business, or in my personal life, and in lots of cases both. You have carried me through some dark times.
You have also taught and reminded me that no matter how dark the night may be in the present moment, the sun is always beyond the horizon bringing a bright new day – a day filled with hope, opportunity, and a chance to do things differently than before.
I am excited and so stinking proud of what we are continuing to build at Horizon Chiropractic Center. We are doing things to help us better serve you in an accessible way and continue to hold space for those who need it.
